Geoff Brown

Jackson, pitcher, Sr.

Brown went 6-2 for the Mill Creek team that finished 18-2. The Washington-bound left-hander went 6-2 with a 0.93 ERA and struck out 83 batters in 45 innings, including a 15-strikeout, two-hit shutout of Meadowdale in March. Batted over .400 in potent Timberwolves' lineup.

Julian Sampson

Skyline, pitcher, Sr.

Washington signee is considered one of the state's top two high-school pitchers. The 6-foot-5 right-hander pitched Sammamish school into state playoffs and led KingCo 3A in four categories: 6-0, 0.72 ERA, 41 strikeouts in 39 innings and five complete games.

Braden Degamo

Mariner, catcher, Sr.

Batted .471 with three homers, 20 runs batted in and 13 steals for the Marauders of Everett. Opponents rarely pitched to him (24 walks) or ran on him. Heading to Yavapai College, a two-year school in Prescott, Ariz., but will also consider major-league draft.

Brock Gates

Decatur, 1B, Sr.

Washington recruit hit four home runs in a 24-6 victory over Kent-Meridian, going 5 for 5 with 11 RBI and earning Sports Illustrated national prep athlete of the week. Gates batted .490 in South Puget Sound League North Division and drove in 23 runs for Federal Way school. With eight homers and six doubles, led division with 1.102 slugging percentage.

J.J. Thompson

Tahoma, 2B, Sr.

Thompson helped the Maple Valley school to No. 1 Class 4A ranking. He batted .441 in SPSL North, with four doubles, four homers and a .912 slugging percentage. Coach Russ Hayden calls him the best defensive second baseman he has ever coached. He has signed with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

David Bentrott

Tahoma, SS, Sr.

Washington signee is a five-tool player who hit .479 this season and led the SPSL North with 25 runs scored. His .792 slugging percentage included three doubles and four home runs, and he was 9 for 9 in steals. Also was on Star Times all-area football team. Led Bears to Class 4A state semifinals.

Chris Morton

Bellevue, 3B, Sr.

Santa Clara signee's bat powered Wolverines offense that helped win KingCo 3A regular-season and tournament titles. Hit .438 with five homers, 30 RBI, .600 on-base and .938 slugging percentages. Committed one error all season for state tournament team.

Brendan Gardner-Young

Highline, OF, Sr.

Washington signee started every game for four years for Pirates from Burien. Led Seamount League with a .545 batting average and 26 runs. Six doubles, four triples and three home runs helped give him a 1.068 slugging percentage, with 16 stolen bases. Seamount Co-MVP also one of league's top left-handed pitchers.

Kellen Kiilsgaard

Auburn, OF, Sr.

One of the state's top baseball and football players was a Star Times selection as a defensive back and plans to play both sports at Stanford. Batted .447 in SPSL 3A games with three doubles and four home runs (.842 slugging percentage), striking out once. Led Trojans back to 3A state semifinals.

Troy Scott

Auburn, DH, Sr.

Washington-bound shortstop led Trojans to SPSL 3A title, batting .600 with three doubles, five home runs, 1.200 slugging percentage, 23 RBI and a league-leading 27 runs. Also was 10 for 10 in steals and had league-high 21 walks, giving him a .778 on-base percentage.

Riley Tubbs

Tahoma, OF, Sr.

Tubbs, one of the area's best all-around athletes, is also an all-league football and basketball player. Showed why he'll play baseball at Washington State by batting .480 and leading SPSL North with 28 RBI. Also had nine doubles, three triples and four home runs for a .940 slugging percentage.

Ed Paulter

Seattle Prep coach

Panthers coach for 22 years had a 319-159 record entering the state playoffs. Teams have made 13 state round-of-16 appearances, appeared in two Final Fours and won two Metro championships. Also is athletic director at Seattle Prep.
